"Amp Rescue" multi stage analog FET preamp/overdrive
The Amp Rescue was so named after it was demonstrated through a small, solid state amp in a music store in Atlanta. The exclamation was heard, "Wow! It rescues a bad amp!"

It is a gain staged preamp with Germanium diodes.The onset of overdrive is gradual, but it adds compression and 2nd order harmonics and "sparkle". Think of it as a better front end for a lackluster guitar amp, although it sounds great through any amp. It chimes in a way you never believed a pedal could, and it has been said to replace the chorus effect in some guitar rigs because of the lively top end.

Like all Lounsberry Pedals it sounds and plays more like a guitar amp than a guitar pedal The controls work the same, and the input is very responsive, ranging from a warm semi-clean to full on classic rock crunch and saturated lead tones.

The Amp Rescue provides a public service for users of "fairly good" equipment and provides the dynamic touch response of a vintage tube amplifier.

ABOUT GAIN STAGING: Discrete preamps provide gain in several stages, so that a lot of what happens to provide the right amounts of drive and compression in a preamp is determined by how many discrete stages are employed, and their levels, determining how the stages interact.

Meet the "Amp Rescue". Smooth and tubelike, it was designed to make your Solid State amp sound like a Tube Amp, but it's real intent is to give great dynamics, chime, and drive to an amp that (maybe) you don't like the sound of very much. Sometimes a new amp is just not in the budget. When we demonstrated the prototype to some players in Atlanta, one exclaimed "It rescues a bad Amp!". What a great idea for a name..........

The amp rescue adds three stages of Tubelike FET preamplification to any amp - the ultimate Amp Driver pedal.

OPERATION;
Nothing could be simpler. Advance the “Drive” control to add fatness, grit and overdrive (depending on level). Use the “Level” control to balance the level against the bypassed signal. True bypass is available via the stomp switch. Use 1/4” T/S cables only. The use of a TRS cable at the input defeats the power switch. Unplug the input cable when not in use to preserve battery life.

POWER SUPPLY:
The Amp Rescue operates on a standard 9v battery, or external pedal supply. Power is switched automatically when the DC jack is used. The specs are:
9 volts
100ma
2.1mm x 5.5 mm plug
