The Hayman cajón Mini is compact and lightweight, which makes it easy to transport. Because of it's higher sound in comparison to its big brothers it can be an ideal addition to a drummer's setup or jamming travellers. Its frontplate is ebony and inside is one fixed string. Underneath there are 4 caps for stability, grip and extra resonance.

What is a cajón?

The cajón finds its origin in Peru. The instrument was used a lot for accompanying dances like the Tondero, the Zamacueca and the Peruvian waltz. The cajón was born out of poverty. In the absence of instruments with the transition to (South-) America, boxes and crates were used as percussion instuments, which later developed into the cajón.

The cajón is becoming rapidly popular in blues, pop, rock, funk, world music, fusion, jazz, etc. It is also often referred to as a "drum kit in a box".
The cajón has become a popular instrument in the folk music of Ireland and is often played alongside the bodhrán.
